Lophopsittacus bensoni (Mascarene grey parakeet)
Taxonomy
Lophopsittacus bensoni was named by Holyoak (1973). Its type specimen is UMZC 577a, a mandible (symphysis of lower mandible), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Valleys of Le Pouce, which is in a Holocene terrestrial horizon in Mauritius. It is the type species of Erythromachus.
It was recombined as Psittacula bensoni by Hume (2007).
