Taxonomy
Loriinidae was named by Selby (1836). It is extant.

It was reranked as the subfamily Loriinae by Joseph et al. (2012) and del Hoyo et al. (2014).

It was assigned to Psittaciformes by Baird (1992) and Livezey and Zusi (2007); to Psittaculidae by Joseph et al. (2012); and to Psittacidae by del Hoyo et al. (2014).
