Taxonomy
Saxidomus noblei was named by Dickerson (1914). Its type specimen is no number listed, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 2249, Rock Creek, which is in a Selandian marine sandstone/shale in the San Francisquito Formation of California.
