Taxonomy
Gheynius bifurcatus was named by Meunier (1907). It is an inclusion in amber.

It was recombined as Gheynia bifurcata by Evenhuis (1994), Ulrich and Schmelz (2001); it was recombined as Palaeomedeterus bifurcatus by Grichanov and Negrobov (2018), Grichanov (2023), Grichanov (2025).
