It was assigned to Pelobatinae by Sanchiz (1998); to Acosmanura by Baez (2013); and to Pelobatidae by Carroll (1988), Henrici (1994), Frank and Ramus (1996), Gissi et al. (2006), Böhme (2008), Venczel and Stiuca (2008), Henrici (2009), Böhme (2010) and Georgalis et al. (2024).
