Geochelone demissa

Taxonomy
Testudo demissa was named by Gilmore (1931). Its type specimen is AMNH 6670, a dermal scale, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ergilin Dzo [AMNH], which is in an Eocene terrestrial sandstone in the Ergilin Dzo Formation of Mongolia.

It was synonymized subjectively with Geochelone insolitus by Mlynarski (1969); it was recombined as Geochelone demissa by Crumly (1983).
