Homo erectus

Taxonomy
Pithecanthropus erectus was named by Dubois (1892). Its type specimen is "Trinil skullcap", Naturalis Biodiversity Center DUBO1303, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Trinil, which is in a Calabrian/Chibanian terrestrial horizon in Indonesia.

It was recombined as Homo erectus by Mayr (1950), Cela-Conde and Ayala (2003).
