Rohrthrips burmiticus was named by Ulitzka (2018). Its type specimen is SMF T 19282, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Burmese amber (SMF coll), which is in a Cenomanian terrestrial amber in Myanmar.
