Decennatherium rex was named by Rios et al. (2017) [LSID urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act:C5E9530A-6C05-4979-9DE7-FC9533CC22E4]. Its type specimen is BAT10’13.E2-69, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro de Batallones 10 (BAT10), which is in a MN 10 terrestrial horizon in Spain.
