Mylodon darwini
Taxonomy
Mylodon darwini was named by Owen (1839). Its type specimen is NHMUK M-16617, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Punta Alta (visited by Darwin during the HMS Beagle voyage), which is in a Lujanian terrestrial conglomerate in Argentina. It is the type species of Mylodon.
