Taxonomy
Kaolishania australis was named by Shergold (1971). Its type specimen is CPC 9729, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gola Beds B520, which is in a Franconian/Trempealeauan marine grainstone in the Gola Beds Formation of Australia.
