Eotibiaapophysis reliquus was named by Wunderlich (2018). Its type specimen is F3220/BU/CJW and is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Burmese amber (Wunderlich coll), which is in a Cenomanian terrestrial amber in Myanmar. It is the type species of Eotibiaapophysis.
