Taxonomy
Barona arcuata was named by Calisto and Piñeiro (2019). Its type specimen is FC-DPI 8710, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Estancia "El Barón", which is in an Artinskian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal shale in the Mangrullo Formation of Uruguay. It is the type species of Barona.
