Taxonomy
Votyak pictus was named by Aristov (2018). Its type specimen is PIN 3695/159, an exoskeleton (fragment of thorax, forewings, and hind wings), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Galevo (Kostovaty, PIN collection 3695), which is in a Wordian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Votyak.
