Taxonomy
Xotodon caravela was named by Armella et al. (2018). Its type specimen is PVL 6579, an other (Maxillary fragment and nearly complete mandible), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is El Molino, which is in a Messinian/Zanclean terrestrial sandstone in Argentina.
