originally this species was placed within the genus Prepaeduma.

Taxonomy
Prepaeduma decapoda was named by Morris and Collins (1991). Its type specimen is BMNH In 61994, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tutong Road, S.5549, which is in a Miocene marine sandstone in the Miri Formation of Brunei Darussalam.

It was recombined as Hexapus decapodus by Collins et al. (2003); it was recombined as Hexapus decapoda by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2001) and Schweitzer et al. (2010).
