Taxonomy

Primobucco was named by Brodkorb (1970). Its type is Primobucco mcgrewi.

It was assigned to Bucconidae by Brodkorb (1970), Feduccia (1973); to Primobucconidae by Feduccia and Martin (1976), Olson (1985), Carroll (1988), Mayr and Mourer-Chauviré (2004); and to Coracii by Clarke et al. (2009).
