Candiacervus rethymnensis

Taxonomy
Candiacervus rethymnensis was named by Kuss (1975). Its type specimen is NHMH number unknown, a limb element (right metacarpal), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mavro Mouri IV, which is in a Pleistocene cave horizon in Greece.

It was recombined as Cervus (Leptocervus) rethymnensis by Capasso Barbato (1992).

J. de Vos 1996A species which, by the length of its legs, is comparable with the mainland Cervus elaphus. It had a withers height of about 90 cm. This species and the following two species are only known from their postcranial skeletal elements.
