Megatherium bergi
Taxonomy
Megatherium bergi was named by Moreno and Mercerat (1891) [From Cabrera 1928: the type is a partial skull with teeth (deformed).]. Its type specimen is MLP 2-66, a set of limb elements (complete pes), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Santa Maria Valley Andalhuala Fm, which is in a Montehermosan/Chapadmalalan terrestrial horizon in the Andalhuala Formation of Argentina.
It was recombined as Pyramiodontherium bergi by Cabrera (1928), Pujos (2006).
