Taxonomy
Microtus eleniae was named by van der Meulen and Doukas (2001). Its type specimen is TB2 709, a tooth (lower first molar), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tourkovounia 2, which is in a Pleistocene fissure fill horizon in Greece.
