Anthonomus (Anthonomus) clarki was named by Legalov (2019). Its type specimen is ISEZh DA2014/1, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (ISEA Novosibirsk coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
