Taxonomy
Myoconcha americana was named by Stanton (1895). Its type specimen is USNM 23042 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Northwest of Stephenson Place, Cold Ford of Cottonwood Creek, which is in a Hauterivian/Barremian basinal (siliceous) mudstone/sandstone in the Stony Creek Formation of California.
