Taxonomy
Paurodon was named by Marsh (1887). Its type is Paurodon valens. It is the type genus of Paurodontidae.
It was assigned to Cladotheria by Wang et al. (1998); and to Paurodontidae by Marsh (1887), Hay (1902), Simpson (1927), Simpson (1929), Hay (1930), Kraus (1979), Prothero (1981), McKenna and Bell (1997), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004), Rougier et al. (2011).
