Paleomolops was named by Cifelli (1994). It is not extant. Its type is Paleomolops langstoni.
It was assigned to Trituberculata by Cifelli (1994) and McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Boreosphenida by Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
