Taxonomy
Docirhynchus ibis was named by Wickham (1912). Its type specimen is UCM IP 8186, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Florissant (Cockerell Collection), which is in a Chadronian lacustrine - large shale in the Florissant Formation of Colorado.
It was recombined as Pseudomesauletes ibis by Legalov (2015), Poinar and Legalov (2015); it was recombined as Pseudomesauletes (Pseudomesauletes) ibis by Bukejs and Legalov (2019).
