Myanmarops damgaardi was named by Legalov and Kirejtshuk (2019). Its type specimen is NHMD 619848, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Burmese amber (NHMD collection), which is in a Cenomanian terrestrial amber in Myanmar. It is the type species of Myanmarops.
