Taxonomy
Eucorystes japonicus was named by Jimbo (1894). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Notopocorystes (Notopocorystes) japonicus by Collins et al. (1993); it was recombined as Notopocorystes japonicus by Schweitzer et al. (2010); it was recombined as Joeranina japonica by van Bakel et al. (2012).
