Jepsenella was named by Simpson (1940). It is not extant. Its type is Jepsenella praepropera.
It was assigned to Apatemyinae by Van Valen (1967); and to Apatemyidae by Simpson (1940), Hooker (1986), Gunnell (1989), McKenna and Bell (1997), Silcox et al. (2010).
