Balta protosimilis
Taxonomy
Balta protosimilis was named by Ross (2019). Its type specimen is NHMUK II.2831a,b, a tegmen, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is North end of Thorness Bay, Bembridge Marls (BMNH collection), which is in a Priabonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Bembridge Marls Formation of the United Kingdom.
