Taxonomy
Palaeoempalia saxea was named by Blagoderov (2019). Its type specimen is NHMUK I.9360, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bembridge Marls (Brodie coll), which is in a Priabonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Bouldnor Formation of the United Kingdom.
