Taxonomy

Plesiolestes was named by Jepsen (1930). It is not extant. Its type is Talpohenach torrejonius.

It was synonymized subjectively with Palaechthon by Krishtalka and Schwartz (1978), Rigby (1980), Hartman (1986).

It was assigned to Paromomyinae by Simpson (1940); to Purgatoriinae by Van Valen and Sloan (1965); to Palaechthonini by Szalay (1969); to Plesiolestinae by Gunnell (1989); and to Palaechthonidae by Jepsen (1930), McKenna and Bell (1997), Scott et al. (2013).

(1979), Rigby (1980), Conroy (1981), Tsentas (1981).

It was assigned to Paromomyidae by Gazin (1968), Gazin (1969); to Plesiolestinae by Gunnell (1989); and to Palaechthonidae by Bown and Gingerich (1973), Kay and Cartmill (1977), McKenna and Bell (1997).
