Taxonomy
Altanius was named by Dashzeveg and McKenna (1977). Its type is Altanius orlovi.
It was assigned to Anaptomorphinae by Dashzeveg and McKenna (1977); to Plesiadapiformes by Rose and Krause (1984); to Omomyidae by McKenna and Bell (1997), Gunnell and Miller (2001) and Hooker (2007); and to Euprimates by Tabuce et al. (2004), Bloch et al. (2007) and Silcox et al. (2010).
