Donrussellia was named by Szalay (1976). Its type is Donrussellia gallica.

It was synonymized subjectively with Teilhardina by Savage et al. (1977).

It was assigned to Tarsiiformes by Szalay (1976); to Adapinae by Hooker (1986); to Cercamoniinae by Franzen (1994); to Omomyidae by McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Adapidae by Estravís (2000).
