Taxonomy
Hoanghonius was named by Zdansky (1930) [Type: phragment of lower jaw. The fossil is from China and is (or was) stored in the paleontological institute of the university of Upsala, Sweden.]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Primates by Simpson (1940); to Omomyidae by McKenna and Bell (1997); to Sivaladapidae by Qi and Beard (1998); to Hoanghoniinae by Gingerich et al. (1994), Gunnell and Miller (2001); and to Sivaladapidae by Godinot (1998), Ni et al. (2016).
