Cedromus was named by Wilson (1949). It is not extant. Its type is Cedromus wardi.

It was assigned to Cedromurinae by Wang and Dashzeveg (2005); and to Sciuridae by Wilson (1949), McKenna and Bell (1997), Korth et al. (2022).
