Epimeriones was named by Daxner-Höck (1972). It is not extant. Its type is Epimeriones austriacus.

It was assigned to Gerbillinae by Daxner-Höck (1972); and to Cricetidae by McKenna and Bell (1997).

G. Daxner-Höck 1972Obere Incisiven mit einfacher Längsrinne. Die Molaren sind hochkronig, bewurzelt, prismenförmig. M/m1 bestehen aus je drei prismen, M/m 2-3 aus je zwei prismen. Die Synklinalen opponieren, sind relativ weit und in ihren Scheiteln abgerundet, nicht winkelig. Keine Zementeinlagerung in den Synklinalen. M/m 3 sind im gegensatz zu den bekannten rezenten und fossilen gatuugnen der gerbillinae zweilophig, symmetrisch, langgestreckt, ohne Anzeichen von Reduktionserscheinungen. M1-M2 sind dreiwurzeling, M3 und m1-3 besitzen je 2 Wurzeln.
