Taxonomy
Anofia aro was named by Reyment (1955). Its type specimen is BMNH L.82970, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Afikpo district, which is in a Maastrichtian marine mixed carbonate-siliciclastic in Nigeria. It is the type species of Anofia.
