Taxonomy
Nipa sahni was named by Lakhanpal (1952). It is not extant. Its type locality is Kalaicharpara, which is in an Oligocene/Miocene fluvial-deltaic horizon in India.
It was synonymized subjectively with Nypa fruticans by Tralau (1964); it was recombined as Nypa sahnii by Lakhanpal et al. (1976).
