Taxonomy
Merothrips aithiopicus was named by Ulitzka (2020). Its type specimen is NHMW N6974, an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ethiopian amber (NHMW collection), which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Ethiopia.
