Taxonomy
Aletodon was named by Gingerich (1977). It is not extant. Its type is Aletodon gunnelli.

It was assigned to Apheliscidae by Zack et al. (2005); and to Hyopsodontidae by Gingerich (1977), Carroll (1988), Archibald (1998), Secord (2008).
