Taxonomy
Mouillacitherium was named by Filhol (1882). It is not extant. Its type is Mouillacitherium elegans.

It was assigned to Dichobunidae by Hooker (1986), Carroll (1988); to Hyperdichobunini by McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Hyperdichobuninae by Theodor et al. (2007).
