Lonsdaleiastraea matsushitae was named by Yamagiwa (1962). Its type specimen is Osaka University of Liberal Arts & Education 60055-6 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Yokoyamaella (Maoriphyllum) matsushitae by Minato and Kato (1965).
