Taxonomy
Wentzelophyllum hayasakai was named by Minato and Kato (1965). Its type specimen is UHR 18281-4 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is East of Sekiya, Hikoroichi machi, Ofunato city, which is in an Artinskian carbonate limestone in the Sakamotosawa Formation of Japan.
