Taxonomy
Sphingoquedius meto was named by Jenkins Shaw et al. (2020). Its type specimen is OU46635, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Foulden maar (I43/f8503), which is in an Aquitanian crater lake diatomite in the Foulden Hills Diatomite Formation of New Zealand.
