Taxonomy
Bubo longaevus was named by Umans'ka (1979). It is not extant. Its type locality is Cherevichny, which is in a Miocene/Pleistocene terrestrial sandstone/claystone in Ukraine.
It was recombined as Asio longaevus by Mlikovsky (2002).
