Typhloproetus schindewolfi was named by Richter and Richter (1919). It is the type species of Typhloproetus (Silesiops), Silesiops (Silesiops).
It was recombined as Silesiops (Silesiops) schindewolfi by Brauckmann et al. (1993); it was recombined as Typhloproetus (Silesiops) schindewolfi by Chlupac (1966), Feist et al. (2000).
