Megalamynodon was named by Wood (1945) [in Scott]. It is not extant. Its type is Megalamynodon regalis.
It was assigned to Metamynodontinae by Prothero and Schoch (1989); to Amynodontidae by Wood (1945) and Wall (1998); and to Metamynodontini by Averianov et al. (2017).
