Taxonomy
Amaea cerva was named by Squires and Saul (2003). Its type specimen is LACMIP 12992 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CIT Loc. 1017 - Chico Creek [Chico Fm], which is in a Santonian coastal sandstone in the Chico Formation of California.
