Tamarro insperatus

Taxonomy
Tamarro insperatus was named by Sellés et al. (2021). Its type specimen is MCD-7073, a set of postcrania (metatarsal II), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sant Romà d'Abella (SRA), which is in a Maastrichtian crevasse splay sandstone in the Talarn Formation of Spain.

Sellés et al. 2021Tamarro insperatus is a mid-sized basal troodontid distinguished by the following unique combination of characters (* marks potential autapomorphies): metatarsal II with marked plantar ridge; small foramen on the lateral surface of the plantar ridge of the metatarsal II*; sub-arctometatarsalian condition with the metatarsal III restricted to the plantar margin on its proximal part.
