Sinosymbole guangxiensis
Taxonomy
Cyrtosymbole (Cyrtosymbole) guangxiensis was named by Zhu (1988) [Zhu in Yu et al. 1988]. Its type specimen is 34/709-17/ 105849, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Sinosymbole.
It was recombined as Sinosymbole guangxiensis by Yuan and Xiang (1998).

Xiang 1998 | Type species of Sinosymbole gen. nov. with the following features : Cranidium moderately vaulted, with nearly straight anterior margin; glabella truncated conical, broadly rounded anteriorly, with 3 pairs of lateral glabellar furrows, of which the S 1 is extremely deeply incised and isolated from the dorsal furrows; occipital furrow deepened and broadened behind L 1, shallowing and obsolete near dorsal furrow; anterior border broad and flat, with 1-2 disco ntinuous terrace lines; palpebral lobe short, strongly projecting outwards , raised high above cheek area; sculpture on the surface of cranidium consists of fine sparsely distributed granules and short undulated crests except for the area around glabellar furrows; pygidium moderately vaulted; axis narrow and long, with 13 axial rings and a short postaxial ridge; pleural lobe broad (tr.), with 11-12 pleural ribs; sculpture on the surface of pygidium consists of fine loosely spaced granules. |
